Saltbox Style House Plans

About these plans

What is a Saltbox style house plan?

Unique and charming, the Saltbox house is immediately recognized by its flat, two-story front and steeply pitched “catslide” roof extending back to a one-story rear. This wedge-shaped, timber-framed structure, usually augmented by a central chimney, first appeared in 17th century New England and still exerts an influence to this day, from new single family dwellings to Tiny Homes and Laneway houses.

• Flat front, clean lines, overall simplicity • Catslide roof extending from two-storey front to one-story back • Wood siding • Central chimney
